Our company built a plant cultivation demonstration house in January 2013, as a way to help support the Tohoku reconstruction effort by creating a plant factory that is free from the effects of soil contamination. This plant cultivation demonstration house is a glass greenhouse of approximately 130 m2, and is made configuration of a hydroponic cultivation room that uses sunlight and a seedling room that uses artificial light.
The cultivation facilities were constructed by Sanki Keiso Co., Ltd., a group company of our company. By combining the company's greenhouse operation know-how with our control and sensor technologies, we are development measuring instruments suitable for plant cultivation and control systems for efficient cultivation.
Plant factories need to understand many environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide and solar radiation, and from these data logging we have accumulated cultivation know-how to obtain optimal taste and yield.
In the future, we will make proposals to contribute to the recovery of agriculture in the affected areas through technology that supports agriculture in various fields, using development, measurement, data recording and analyzing, environment control, wireless technology, and network technology, which are suitable sensors for plant factories.
There is a simplified artificial light nursery on the first floor of the head office. The harvested vegetables are lined up in the cafeteria, and employees are given a chance to taste them and surveyed to find out more about the relationship between the color of the artificial light and the taste.
