Temperature control in a logistics warehouse for a major convenience store chain

Operational Status

The background to this is that following a temperature control scandal at a major transportation company, a convenience store chain, which is a client of the company, instructed the transportation company to which it entrusts its logistics operations, to be more strict in controlling the temperature in its warehouses.
The logistics company in this case had previously used the MD8000 series for temperature control in their warehouse, but in order to further enhance temperature control, they requested the following:

  1. Added temperature recording near entrances and gates where temperatures can be high (previously these were located at the back of the warehouse where temperatures were relatively stable)
  2. Because the temperature distribution varies greatly depending on the amount of cargo in the warehouse, measurements were taken at two points, 300mm and 1500mm from the floor surface (previously only the 1500mm point was used).
  3. Check temperature every 4 hours

Benefits

  1. The current mainstream method of temperature control in the logistics industry is to check wall-mounted thermometers installed in warehouses once or twice a day, but because the MD8000 data logging wirelessly, it is possible to control temperatures over a shorter time span than the required four hours without imposing a burden on operations, reducing the amount of work required.
  2. Because it is a wireless monitoring system, no wiring work is required. Transmitters can be added easily.
