When moisture evaporates, heat is removed by vapor heating, so the temperature becomes lower than in areas without moisture. Therefore, the surface of the leaking area is display by infrared thermography as a cooler area than areas without moisture, making it possible to estimate the extent of the leak (the area and route of the leak), which is difficult to determine with the naked eye.
